My middle-aged and retired friends often shared a common story. They told me that they joined a gym that offered a free personal training session. They were met by a 22 year-old fitness god or goddess who put them through a strenuous bodybuilding workout. My friends spoke of injuries or extreme soreness. One friend was so sore the next day that she never returned to the gym. I could see that people in my age group and older could benefit from a personal trainer who understands their body’s challenges and potential. I responded by earning my personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began Fit Beyond Forty. I created a fully equipped personal fitness studio that’s just right for one or two people. I now provide personal training for people aged forty and older, with special emphasis on promoting the fitness of retirees.

I recently suffered a herniated disc in my back. I worried that I may have caused it myself either by doing an unnecessary exercise or doing a necessary exercise incorrectly. I therefore searched for and luckily found a good personal trainer. Michael Radding filled the bill for me perfectly. He has a complete understanding of the pitfalls a guy like myself can fall into. I learned from him the importance of balance and core exercises, and also better ways to do the exercises I had already been doing for years. Now my fear of repeating another self-inflicted injury is vastly reduced. I don’t hesitate to recommend Michael to everyone.
